Michael Kors has long championed the fight to end hunger. In October, he donated $5 million to NYC-based God’s Love We Deliver, and now he’s partnering with the World Food Programme.
The organization, which is an extension of the United Nations, seeks to end the international hunger crisis by providing food and assistance, and is the largest hunger fighting organization in the world. The WFP operates in over 70 countries and feeds 900 million people every year. Kors plans to raise millions of dollars over the course of the next several years via multi-platform campaigns, special events, and fundraising products, such as unisex watches that will launch in March.
In a press release:
“I am so proud to be joining the World Food Programme in one of the greatest global fights of our time–the battle to end hunger. Over the years, I’ve had the great fortune of traveling the world and experiencing new cultures and people. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that millions of people all over the world are struggling to feed themselves, and their families, every day. I want to lend my voice and my efforts to this international cause.”
Kors has released a PSA with some of his famous friends like Seth Meyers, Bette Midler, Karolina Kurkova, and more asking for your help. You can donate a mere $5 to the cause by texting “MKHUNGER” to 50555 (standard message and data rates apply) or through the WFP site here.
