In case there was anyone left in the world who might question Michelle Obama’s fashion cred, the first lady wore a pair of Alexander Wang jeans while in Botswana last week. More importantly, though, these weren’t just any old A. Wang jeans, these were a pair of doodle-printed denim from his acclaimed Spring 2011 collection.
To whit: when working on the collection last year, Wang had his interns sit down around a piece of paper for ten minutes and told them to just doodle — with no specific direction in mind. The result was the print that walked his runway last September — and then found its way into Michelle Obama’s closet.
The Doodle Print Jeans (that’s really their name) are currently on sale for $334. And while that’s a little steep for our tastes, Michelle makes a good point: if you’re gonna paint a mural in a pair of $334 jeans, then doodle print is the way to go.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
