If there is one bipartisan issue at tonight’s Presidential Debate at Hofstra University in New York, it’s that pink means power.
Unlike the first debate, for which Michelle Obama wore a bold indigo skirt suit and Ann Romney went with monochromatic while, tonight both women wore coordinating pink ensembles — and not just pink, shocking pink! Breast Cancer Awareness Month, perhaps?
Michelle, somewhat uncharacteristically, opted for the more conservative look of the evening — a trim dress paired with a jacket with quarter-length sleeves and a classic string of pearls. Meanwhile, Ann chose a textured short-sleeved dress, turquoise glass beads, substantial hoop earrings, and layered gold bracelets. And as for nails, the latter went with a periwinkle shade, while the former opted for neutral polish.
We’ll update when we have further information about the designers of the women’s ensembles, but suffice it to say that they overlapped nearly as much as their respective husbands spoke over one another (which is to say, quite a lot. And they didn’t even have Candy Crowley to intervene).
Even before the debate drew to a close, however, it was clear who the real winner was — FUCHSIA 2012!
UPDATE: Ann Romney wore an Oscar de la Renta dress that retails for $1,690, while Michelle’s outfit was a design from Michael Kors‘ Resort 2013 collection — the jacket costs $1,495 and the dress $1,795.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
