At 2008’s Democratic National Convention, Michelle Obama made her mark in a vibrant teal, sleeveless dress by Maria Pinto. Last night, the First Lady strode on stage for her speech in an equally winning look: a custom-made pink damask dress by African American designer Tracy Reese.
Obama paired the dress — which featured a flattering neckline, gold print, and contrasting lavender hem — with J.Crew’s Everly Suede pumps in bright pink, a purple-y grey manicure, and her glowingly toned arms. Obama opted for subtle smokey eye makeup, a glossy pink lip, and her signature coif.
Reese confirmed the dress choice to the New York Daily News, telling the paper, “In the midst of fashion week preparations, seeing the First Lady in one of my designs was a truly extraordinary moment. She evokes so much confidence, strength and humility. I am so proud she chose to wear our dress!”
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
