Normally when magazines use the same photo for multiple covers, we raise our eyebrows in disbelief. But in the case of Time magazine, which has now used the same photo of GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney twice, it’s just a really cool concept.
That’s because when you place the two covers (one from the December 12, 2011 issue and another from the January 16, 2012 issue) side by side, you can see just how quickly the tides have shifted in the Republican race for the White House — or, the race to race for the White House, we guess we should say. This side of two weeks ago, Romney was just one of a number of people who wanted the job. And now that he’s won the Iowa Caucus, he’s the horse to beat. The idea is pretty well illustrated in how Romney’s face shifts from one side of the frame to the other. See what they did there?
Of course we won’t know exactly who the Republican party will select to go up against President Obama in the 2012 election for another few weeks — we still have primaries in New Hampshire and South Carolina to get through, after all — but for now, it looks like Romney is sitting pretty. Check out the two covers below.
