Urban Outfitters is not afraid of controversy, and this time, it’s selling Barack Obama, Mitt Romney, and Ron Paul-inspired fashions.
The retailer designed a number of tees that feature the three politicians in variously hilarious poses. Last election cycle, Urban Outfitters took advantage of the huge number of Obama supporters within its target market and sold the famous Shepard Fairey-knockoff Hope tees. This time around, Urban Outfitters created tees for three candidates, both republican and democratic.
The fashion industry certainly doesn’t shy away from politics. Last year, fashion folk donated $435,160 to the presidential race (with Obama and Romney receiving nearly equal amounts), and next month Sarah Jessica Parker will host a fundraiser for Obama at her West Village townhouse.
All politics aside, images of Romney in gold lamé hammer pants and Obama Tebow-ing warrant a good laugh. But we’re most interested in seeing if any of the styles sell out and whether this might add a spark to the otherwise less-than-exciting presidential race.
Anyway, take a look at some of the styles below. Would you buy one?
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
