Naomi Campbell has morphed into the First Lady of Fashion for a dramatic new spread in W magazine.
Styled by Edward Enniful and shot by Willy Vanderperre, the series takes its cues from the FLOTUS on a diplomatic mission to Ghanda. “It’s a tribute to a modern day First Lady on a state trip, evoking the kind of timeless style that could have existed in the 1940’s, 60’s, or even today,” Enninful said.
The hair is giving us a bit of a Kennedy vibe, and we’re not sure Michelle Obama would choose to go shirtless while traveling for business purposes. But Campbell’s pout (in MAC x RiRi‘s Nude) and compelling air are spot-on. We’d also love to see Obama herself in that fur-trimmed Prada jacket and matching skirt, not that there’s anything to fault about her wardrobe IRL.
It’s not the first time a model has channeled the First Lady for a fashion spread. Type ‘Tyra Banks Ob’ into Google and the first thing that pops up after ‘Tyra Banks obsessed with herself’ and ‘Tyra Banks obnoxious’ is ‘Tyra Banks Obama,’ referring to a shoot she did for Harper’s Bazaar back in 2008 (below). While the human smize does bouffant like no other, it looks more like she’s playing dress-ups than helping run a country. Your win, W.
