Naomi May Sue Cadbury For Using Her Name In ‘Racist’ Ad

One would think most people know by now not to mess with Naomi Campbell, but apparently that logic doesn’t apply to the advertising and marketing execs over at Cadbury. The supermodel is suing mad over a new ad for the candy company’s “Bliss” chocolate bar, which features the tagline, “Move over Naomi, there’s a new diva in town.”

Campbell said Saturday that she is looking at “every option available” which is press speak for “suing them.” She also told The Independent: “I am shocked. It’s upsetting to be described as chocolate, not just for me, but for all black women and black people. I do not find any humour in this. It is insulting and hurtful.”

The model’s mother also weighed in, saying, “I’m deeply upset by this racist advert. Do these people think they can insult black people and we just take it? This is the 21st century, not the 1950s. Shame on Cadbury.”

A spokesperson for Cadbury released a statement insisting that the ad campaign was meant as “a light-hearted take on the social pretensions of Cadbury Dairy Milk Bliss,” but also noted that the ad in question was “no longer in circulation.”
