Naomi Campbell has been suffering from a torn ligament in her left leg for over a month now. According to Page Six, the injury is allegedly due to a violent robbery in Paris. But the Daily Mail reports that French police have no record of the incident, nor does the situation make any sense.
Sources tell Page Six that the 42-year-old supermodel was trying to hail a cab when thugs “knocked over and robbed” her:
“It was terrifying. Naomi believes the assailant had been watching her, casing her out, and waited for a moment to strike when she was alone. She was attacked in the street as she hailed a cab, and robbed. Her leg was injured as she was violently pushed to the ground. She was understandably very upset and shaken up.”
While it’s not yet known just what was stolen from her, it’s believed that the thieves were after expensive jewelry. Billionaire boyfriend Vladimir Doronin immediately flew Campbell out to Vail, Colorado to be treated by top orthopedic surgeon J. Richard Steadman, and also amped up Campbell’s security as a precaution of sorts. Campbell’s spokesperson and agent didn’t comment on the matter when contacted by Page Six, and Campbell herself offered only: “I am sorry, I do not talk to press, but I am fine.”
Campbell is said to have reported the incident to the French police, but the Daily Mail reports that cops have no record of any attack or robbery. A member of the police staff told the paper:
“A high profile celebrity being attacked in Paris would be something everybody remembers. If such a serious crime had taken place then a criminal enquiry would have started by now — especially if the victim ended up in a wheelchair.”
The paper also points out the oddity of the situation. We’re talking about one of the world’s biggest supermodels who also just so happens to be dating a billionaire — and she’s trying to get a cab? That doesn’t sound like Campbell’s style at all. In fact, a source who works at a limousine company that takes care of Campbell when she’s in Paris said:
“The thought of Naomi Campbell hailing a taxi in the street is laughable, let alone the idea that a gang would attack her. It all sounds absolutely bizarre.Naomi is quite a demanding lady, and always has lots of assistants around her too. She’s seldom alone!”
Well, that much does make sense. So which part of Campbell’s story are we to believe then? We’ll just have to wait and find out.
