We’re not even halfway through December and already the January 2011 glossy covers are here. And while that’s as disconcerting as it is exciting, we were too distracted by Natalie Portman’s Vogue cover to get bogged down by our emotions.
A few things:
First, would you believe this is Portman’s fourth Vogue cover? The Black Swan star graced her first cover in 2002, which was followed by two more in 2004 and 2006. Blake Lively, you’ve got some big shoes to fill.
Second, is it just us, or does Portman’s new cover look distinctly similar to her first? The red cover lines, the peachy pink pastel dress, the low and softly tousled ponytail — coincidence? We think not.
Third, a Fashin tipster takes issue with Portman’s J. Mendel dress, complaining that it looks insultingly similar to Rodarte, the design house behind the costumes in Black Swan. While we appreciate the spirited defense of the Mulleavy sisters, we’re not sure the dress really is all that similar.
What do you think?
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
