Numéro Russia has released the cover of its debut issue, and supermodel Naomi Campbell gets the top honor of fronting it.
The model may seem like an odd choice considering there are a lot of Russian heavyweights like Natasha Poly and Natalia Vodianova in the industry. But the mag’s new editor at large André Leon Talley is eager to explain the move (and a side note that all the cool kids are in Russia now) to WWD:
“I chose her because she lives in Russia now, she has a Russian life with her boyfriend Vladimir [Doronin]. They have an extraordinary new house by Zaha Hadid, and I was privileged enough to see it before it was completed. It’s extraordinarily modern to be in Russia.”
On the black-and-white cover, Campbell sports a tailored blazer, what appears to be tiny hotpants, stilettos, and well, not much else. Perfect for showcasing those mile-long legs, sigh. Funnily enough, Sebastian Kim — the same photographer behind Numéro‘s controverisal blackface editorial — photographed Campbell for the cover.
