As per usual, The New York Times Vows section fails to disappoint. Announced today is the union of Maria Lemos and Mario Maccioni, both 47, who were married Saturday at the Church of our Lady Peace in Manhattan. Maccioni is the vice president of LC International, the restaurant company that owns posh New York eateries like Le Cirque, Circo, and Sirio, and Lemos was the fundraising chairwoman for Mount Sinai Medical Center a few years back. The coupling seems normal enough by New York standards.
But buried a bit deeper into the story comes the best thing we’ve read all day: the two met in 2010 whilst at New York-Presbyterian Westchester Hospital in White Plains, where she was being treated for anxiety, and he for depression, after experiencing a “string of difficult events” such as being blinded in one eye during a paintball match. Uhhh, that might send us on a serious quest for therapy as well.
Holy mental ward romance, Batman! We wish the happy couple the best of luck, and really hope the Vows section has more where this came from.
