Wearable tech is no longer just for Teletubbies. There are designer bracelets that change your phone. There are fashion editors roaming the Lincoln Center courtyard in Google Glass. And there’s now a pair of panties that can literally get you off.
At today’s 2014 International CES show in Las Vegas, sex toy company OhMiBod announced their latest venture — a pair of women’s underwear embedded with a Bluetooth-activated vibrator called the ‘blueMotion massager’. It will cost you $129 and can be controlled by using your smartphone as a remote control with the accompanying iOS or Android app.
“It’s a really fun way to control vibrations without anyone knowing what you’re doing because the remote is on your phone,” Brian Dunham, who founded OhMiBod along with his wife Suki, told Mashable. “Technology can drive couples apart, but this is using technology and gadgets to bring them closer together.” Their previous creations include a vibrator that moves to the beat and rhythm of your iPod.
The Bluetooth chip in the bluMotion massager takes advantage of a range of smartphone features, including accelerometer, touch screen and volume controls. There’s even a feature that can record up to 60 seconds of sound, meaning your vibrator can buzz to the beat and rhythm of your parter’s voice. Or, if your roommates are home, to your favorite song.
Though designed with couples in mind, the vibrations can also be controlled for solo play. The app has to be within Bluetooth range for it to sync with the panties in real time, but Dunham aims to bring long distance to the app by summer. Now there’s one thing you can’t do through Instagram.
