Earlier this month, we caught a glimpse at what Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Karen Elson, and more models were wearing at the Olympics’s Closing Ceremony. Tonight, we got a look at the supers in action on the telly, and it was nothing short of amazing and fantastic.
The floor of the Olympic Stadium was transformed into a Union Jack flag, thanks to volunteers who lined up and joined hands to create the shape. Parts of the “flag” were relegated to performance space, while others were standing room for the Olympic athletes.
The model lineup also included Lily Donaldson, Lily Cole, Stella Tennant, Jourdan Dunn, Georgia May Jagger, and David Gandy. Nine trucks pulling billboards of the models rode into the Olympic Stadium to David Bowie‘s popular tune “Fashion”, naturally. The trucks stopped by the sides of the flag, and just when the beat dropped, so did the billboards revealing the models in all their glory.
Each of the ladies, who were paid a mere £1, wore a gold creation by a British designer, like Christopher Kane and Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, while Gandy went with a tailored suit. After posing for a few seconds, the models stepped down and walked along the stadium floor as if it were a real catwalk. Once they got to the center of the stadium, they posed for a minute or two, and then strutted out of the stadium. It was barely three minutes, but it was by far the most fashionable three minutes of the entire London Games.
And in case you missed it, we’ve got it all right here:
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
