Sure, menswear can be a bit of a yawn, but the power of a well-cut suit truly can’t be understated. Last night’s screening of Olympus Has Fallen in New York City was cold, hard proof of this, as Gerard Butler showed up in an impeccable Z Zegna three-piece wool suit and effectively stole all the attention from the women on the red carpet.
Not that he was the only dude looking dashing at the soirée. Alex Lundqvist arrived in a sleek silver jacket and emerald tie — although, let’s face it, his razor-sharp cheekbones were really his best accessory — while Garrett Neff matched his pink shirt to his pocket square.
As far as the female attendees went, Rachel Roy had the comfy/classy/cool mix down pat in a slouchy black blazer and grey cropped trousers paired with embellished peach sandals, while 17-year-old Sami Gayle looked sweet (if a tad saccharine) in a watercolor pastel Alice + Olivia frock.
Of course, we’re still stuck starting at the suits:
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
