Oprah Winfrey is richer, more successful and has better skin than, well, most people in the world, so it only makes sense that she can get things few others can. Case in point: this Wednesday, with her ground- and record-breaking talk show drawing to a close, Winfrey will interview designer and branding master Ralph Lauren. It will be his first televised interview in 20 years.
WWD reports that Winfrey not only got the designer to sit down in front of a camera, she got him to let her camera crew into his behemoth estate in Telluride, Colo. — which is something that has never happened in the history of ever.
It’s the first time camera crews were let into the home and, in the hour-long program, Winfrey gets a glimpse into how the Laurens live, rides around the ranch in his vintage 1948 Jeep, and offers a rare look at Lauren’s antiques-filled tepees.
Winfrey also chats with the rest of the Lauren family, including Ralph’s wife Ricky, and his kids David and Dylan (both of whom are engaged) and Andrew.
So what can someone who’s worth $2.7 billion learn from someone who has $5.8 billion? We don’t know, but we’re already planning to take over one of the many TVs Mediaite has scattered throughout our office on Wednesday afternoon, so if you notice a lack of activity on Styleite between 4 and 5 pm EST that day, you’ll know why.
