Oscar Pistorius Dropped From Thierry Mugler Contract, Suspended At Nike

Oscar Pistorius Dropped By Thierry Mugler, Suspended At Nike

In an unsurprising turn of events, Thierry Mugler has dropped disgraced Paralympian Oscar Pistorius as a spokesman, while Nike has suspended his contract pending the court’s decision.

Pistorius was charged with murder last week in the shooting of his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, and is currently on trial in South Africa. In light of the situation at hand, Thierry Mugler has decided to drop their contract with Pistorius.

The athlete has been the face of Mugler’s Amen fragrance since 2011, but according to a statement from parent company, Groupe Clarins:

“Out of respect and compassion for the families implicated in this tragedy, Thierry Mugler Perfumes has taken the decision to withdraw all its campaigns with Oscar Pistorius.”

A similar statement was released by Nike yesterday, however the sporting goods giant is being more cautious with their decision and holding out until Pistorius is given a fair trial:

“Nike has suspended its contract with Oscar Pistorius. We believe Oscar Pistorius should be afforded due process and we will continue to monitor the situation closely.”
