Fifty years ago today, The Beatles’ ‘I Want to Hold Your Hand’ hit the states and sent heaps of American girls into the same tizzy that their British counterparts were experiencing across the pond. It was Beatlemania, and these fan girls put today’s Beliebers and One Directioners to shame with every fiber of their pleated tartan skirts.
Our apologies if you’re one of the five people over 12-years-old that would qualify their ‘art’ as music, but it’s an insult to humanity to even try to compare them on that front, so let’s skip right to style. Instead of getting bedecked in hideous fan gear, these girls simply wore their school girl uniforms and let their cryfaces do the talking behind the sassy cat eye frames and perfectly-coiffed beehive hair they wore everyday.
Sometimes they accessorized with pins and T-shirts, but typically these girls were too busy wreaking havoc on billy club-clad officers and Beatle-toting automobiles to give a damn about how they looked. With that, we invite you to recreate their ’60s look so you can experience The White Album as they intended.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
