Between Sid and Nancy, we’ve taken far more cues from the latter when it comes to personal style — motorcycle jackets, leather pants, and leopard prints have each become staples in our wardrobe. However, a photograph that popped up on our Twitter feed has stoked our interest in Mr. Vicious, and his radical wardrobe, in a way we could’ve never imagined.
In the 1973 image (below), the Sex Pistols frontman is off to a David Bowie concert wearing the slickest Canadian tuxedo we’ve ever laid our eyes on. His classic denim jacket is paired with an authentic Bowie T-shirt (the likes of which we can only dream of today) and the most blithely cool jean trousers we’ve ever seen.
If you shop around hard enough, and have the right attitude, of course, the supremely ’70s get-up is adaptable for today’s street style. See our picks, below, and please note that we’ve thrown in Chuck’s for good measure.
