Everybody’s Collaborating With The Oz Movie

The phrase “looks inspired by the Wizard of Oz” only makes us think of green face paint, glittery red high heels, and bad Halloween costumes, but the companies collaborating with the latest Disney flick, Oz, the Great and Powerful, are thinking way more outside the box with a slew of new products related to the film’s iconic setting and characters.

Urban Decay, OPI, Steve Madden, and Sue Wong are just a few of the recognizable names that are releasing limited edition lines to coincide with the film’s release, filled with everything from glittery nail polishes entitled “What Wizardry is This?” to a yellow brick collar necklace. James Franco stars as the titular character, but it’s likely that his supporting cast of witches — Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, and Michelle Williams, all serious Hollywood fashion icons — had more to do with everyone’s interest in getting on the Oz bandwagon.

Said Wong about the film (which inspired her to create a series of evening gowns): “I…loved the contrast between the edgy, sultry gothic bad witch personified by Rachel Weisz’s Evanora, and the ethereal, feminine good witch Glinda.”

We’ve got our eye on that emerald starburst necklace designed by jeweler Joe Vilaiwan; it’s got all the bling of the ruby slippers and just the right note of bad witch goodness. Do you see any pretties you want to get your hands on? (We had to.)
