As any good design geek knows, Pantone is the authority on all things color. And every season Pantone releases a fashion color report after the New York collections are shown. For spring 2011, they drew from designers like Peter Som, Rebecca Taylor and Tibi to find the 10 colors that best represent the season. Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, had this to say:
The colors designers have chosen for the spring season present an interesting marriage of unexpected warm and cool tones. By cleverly combining complementary colors, those that are opposites on the color wheel, they have created a striking intensity to the palette. These unique color combinations make it possible for consumers to pair existing pieces in colors traditionally associated with fall, with new favorites to punch up springtime wardrobes.
You can check out the colors here, but what we’re really excited about is Pantone’s partnership with Visa. Yes, you can now own a credit card that resembles your beloved Pantone swatches in spring 2011’s most “directional” hues. We need one. Now.
