Most movie premieres are frequented by the glamorous, well-established crowd, but last night’s premiere of ParaNorman in Los Angeles was a very youthful family affair. Teenagers and small children were in attendance, and they may have outshone the older guests!
We’ll start with the night’s top billings: Anna Kendrick and Leslie Mann. We really wanted to like Kendrick in Mulberry, but it didn’t do much for us. It isn’t necessarily bad and she certainly could’ve done worse, but the shiny fabric with a fitted top and flowy bottom reminds us a bit of a figure skating costume, which we wore a lot of during our childhood. We have somewhat mixed feelings about Mann’s Monique Lhuillier frock — the coral hue was very pretty on her, the dress fit well, and it was a good choice for a daytime event. That said, we feel like there’s just not much to it. That dress is too simple to pair with nude pumps and zero accessories, and it makes the look feel unfinished.
On the other hand, the mini fashionistas were out in force. Daphne Blunt was one of our favorites. Her button-up top and colorblocked skirt combo was cute, classy, a tad bit quirky, and most importantly, it didn’t look like she was trying to appear older than her 14-year-old self. We also thought Madison Moellers‘ purple dress and pink accessories were precious. And last but not least, we totally want Bianca Carrere‘s cute little puff-sleeved maxi dress and layered necklaces. How adorable!
