Anna Krentcil suffered burns which were initially visible, but are no longer so over a week after the alleged incident. According to ABC, she told friends that she “went tanning with Mommy” last week. A teacher allegedly overheard Anna and notified police. The police have charged her 44-year-old mother Patricia with second degree child endangerment and have released her on $25,000 bail. The child’s father has been granted temporary custody.
New Jersey law states nobody under 14 is allowed to use a tanning facility and anyone under 18 needs parental consent.
However, both parents claim that their daughter just got a little sunburnt while playing outside on a recent 85-degree day. Patricia told NBC that she often brings her daughter to the tanning salon, but doesn’t allow her in the booth:
“It’s like taking your daughter to go food shopping. There’s tons of moms that bring their children in. I tan, she doesn’t tan. I’m in the booth, she’s in the room. That’s all there is to it.”
The name of her preferred salon hasn’t been released, but employees say that they didn’t witness the mom put her daughter in the booth. Patricia is expected to appear in a New Jersey court today to plead her case.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard of mothers doing crazy and borderline abusive things to their daughters. Remember the was-it-a-hoax-or-not Botox mom and this terrifying Toddlers & Tiaras episode?
