Carine Roitfeld is after gold. In a good way. The former Vogue Paris EIC has curated a runway show called “The Ultimate Gold Collection Fashion Show” featuring forty top models including Alessandra Ambrosio, Joan Smalls, Karlie Kloss, Lily Donaldson, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, among others, wearing — you guessed it — gold gowns. The event, which will take place at the 20th Cinema Against AIDS to benefit amfAR during the Cannes Film Festival, will feature gilded gowns and jewelry from legendary and emerging fashion houses like Chanel, Burberry, Roberto Cavalli, and Armani. Basically, the shiniest affair you can ever imagine.
This is quite the juxtaposition of Roitfeld’s amfAR benefit from last year, which was an all-black situation. But this time around she says, “I have themed the collection around the color gold — because it represents warmth, love and success.” You don’t have to convince us. Here’s a look at the sketches, by Lula Herself. For more gilded extravagance, see the 24K gown Zac Posen designed earlier this year, then see what else the celebs have been sporting in Cannes this year.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
