PHOTOS: Kate Middleton And The Queen Stick To What They Know

This is going to sound confusing: Queen Elizabeth ll‘s birthday is in April, but each year in June, a parade is held in the Queen’s honor. The Queen’s Birthday Parade, the “Trooping of Colour,” starts in London’s St. James Park and moves to Buckingham Palace, featuring more than 1,000 soldiers, performers, and horses. IT IS QUITE AN EVENT.

Being that this was a “color” situation, we have to admit, the royals were playin’ it safe. Kate Middleton traded leopard print for a subdued pasted pink number (veerrryyyy similar to this one). The Queen, looking lovely as ever, stepped out in her go-to cobalt blue style. We guess — since this was such a classy affair and all — that it’s cool to keep it simple.
