We love a good behind-the-scenes video, but so often they’re super short, super edited, and devoid of any and all conversation because of some post-production soundtrack meant to make the footage look more artsy. Enter this 24 minute long look at Karl Lagerfeld‘s shoot for the 2010 Pirelli calendar, in which the models actually talk (much to Daria Werbowy‘s detriment), wander around naked, and Lagerfeld expounds on mythology, retouching, and why he included Julianne Moore.
First things first: the shoot took place in Lagerfeld’s library which, as you’ll see in the video, is amazing. More importantly, while we normally love Werbowy (she’s Canadian! she snowboards!), we’ve never seen a model make a bigger ass of themselves while discussing, well, modeling. To whit:
It’s cool to just dress up and portray these god-like creatures. We are kind of warriors, we have to be super strong to be a model, mentally, physically, and emotionally. We’re kind of like unearthly human beings.
That last part is true, Daria, it’s just that you’re not actually supposed to say it.
And finally, we’re all about positive body image here on Styleite, so kudos to Erin Wasson for being astoundingly comfortable while naked. Despite no longer being in front of the camera, she continues to wander around and have conversations with people while nonchalantly topless.
Warning: the video is NSFW.
