Prabal Gurung Tapped To Bring Style To 30,000 Feet

Sounds like someone’s got a fly new gig. Fresh off a hit collection for Target, Prabal Gurung has landed a role revamping the uniforms of some very lucky flight attendants.

According to WWD, almost 10,000 of Japan’s All Nippon Airways’ cabin attendants and ground crew will be clad in Gurung’s designs by 2014. Think they hopped on board the bandwagon — or, should we say, band-Boeing — after the news of American Airlines hiring KaufmanFranco and Virgin Atlantic landing Vivienne Westwood?

Whatever the case, it sounds like the designer was the right man for the job. He offered:

“The new uniform will pay homage to the history of the airline while incorporating a fresh and modern perspective. I have been hugely inspired by this project, particularly incorporating my own personal passion for luxury and glamour with that created by ANA’s [crew] during the flight experience. I am looking forward to unveiling my designs in the coming months and watching them fly throughout the world with ANA.”

Stay tuned for pics!
