Finding the check-in for Saturday night’s Prabal Gurung after party felt like some sort of sartorially-inspired, Sisyphean task. As we walked from one doorman to another (and back again), and from the lobby to the elevators to a freight entrance driveway (seriously), we wondered if the whole rigamarole was worth it. And then we heard Bieber was in the house and realized our tribulations were trivial in the presence of the such teenage glory.
(Have you seen Never Say Never?)
Bieber was having a late night dinner at Marble Lane, a steakhouse found at New York’s Dream Downtown Hotel, which only partially explained the crowd. Christian Siriano‘s after party at PH-D, the hotel’s rooftop lounge, explained some of it, while Lovecat magazine’s anniversary party for The Kills explained the rest. But security aside, the most fun of the night was found anywhere within hearing distance DJ Mia Moretti’s booth at the subterranean Electric Room.
We made it inside as Moretti spun her way through a timely Whitney Houston tribute, during which Brad Goreski boogied with man of the hour Gurung, while non-celebs crowded around the open bar. (The actual celebs — like Rose McGown, Russell Simmons, and The Kills’ Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince — had dedicated tables in the back.)
We danced until we couldn’t (and probably drank until we shouldn’t), but eventually left around 2AM which, while late for us (under any circumstances), left no small amount of well-heeled VIPs bopping the night away.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
