You can’t launch a multinational, high-concept designer fast-fashion collaboration without a bang, and Versace for H&M is trying its damnedest not to disappoint. Word has it the fashion show celebrating the collection in New York next Tuesday will close with not one but two very, very, very big performances.
Women’s Wear Daily reports that living musical fashion and personal style legend Prince (PRINCE!) and crazy pants fashion plate rapper Nicki Minaj will both make appearances after the show. What will they sing? We don’t know. Will they sing together? We kind of hope so AND hope not at the same time. WILL THEY BE WEARING PIECES OF THE COLLECTION? That’s an almost guaranteed yes.
Prince, of course, has been wearing Versace for years. He famously wore a ruffled shirt with a purple velvet women’s Versace blazer on the album cover for Purple Rain, and pieces from the Italian fashion house have been peppered over his wardrobe for decades. And you know, Nicki Minaj is always a crowd pleaser. So of course Donatella Versace herself is excited that she’s getting them both for the show. She told WWD:
“To have my friend, the great, the amazing, the one and only Prince, and the extraordinary Nicki Minaj both perform at the event, will create exactly the feeling of joy and glamour I want this partnership to express.”
Joy and glamour! Can you ask for anything more? Absolutely not.
