Martha Stewart Teaches Proenza Boys How To Tie Dye

Today we learned how to pronounce Proenza Schouler from Martha Stewart. Seriously. The homemaking mogul was joined on her show by Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, the duo behind the brand.

The two briefly discussed their entree into the fashion industry and the story of their first collection, which was immediately bought in full by Barney’s New York. Not a bad deal, boys.

McCollough then shared the story of a fortuitous run in with with Anna Wintour on an airplane before Proenza Schouler had made a name for themselves. Coaxed by his mother to go talk to her, he wrote a note on a napkin, begging for an internship at Vogue. Only two weeks later, he received a call from designer Michael Kors offering him an internship.

But the best part came when, in homage to the designers’ tie dye-heavy spring line, Martha gave the designer duo a DIY tie-dying lesson.
