Queen Elizabeth‘s Diamond Jubliee is the best. Well, anything Liz does is the best, and we’re more than happy to celebrate her 60 years on the throne.
As you saw yesterday, the Brits celebrated their monarch with an epic concert featuring the likes of Elton John, Paul McCartney, Annie Lennox, and tons of other UK stars. Prince William, Prince Harry, and Prince Charles were all in attendance. Obviously the artist formerly known as Kate Middleton was there too, decked out in a blue and purple print dress from Whistles topped off with an Alexander McQueen jacket. Liz wore a super fancy — and dare we say funky?! — embroidered gold frock.
The one notable absence was that of Prince Philip, who was hospitalized for a bladder infection early Monday. (He’s doing just fine, but is no doubt bummed to miss out on the rest of his wife’s awesome weekend.) Prince Charles addressed the 20,000-strong crowd, calling his mother “Your Majesty, Mummy” (!), and everyone sang “God Save the Queen”.
Then this morning there was a thanksgiving service at St. Paul’s Cathedral. Liz turned it out in a textured white coat dress, a mint scarf, and a coordinating hat, and was joined by her family. Kate busted out yet another McQueen creation, this time a nude lace shift accessorized with a jaunty netted chapeau. A reception and lunch followed, and a procession to Buckingham Palace where the royal family made an appearance on the balcony topped off the whole crazy weekend.
We’ll never stop saying this: LIZ FOREVER AND EVER.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
