If your feet are feeling timid and less-than-beautiful right now, you probably shouldn’t buy any of Rachel Roy‘s new shoes. The designer says her new collection is not for the faint of heart.
“I don’t want shoes unless they are strong and sexy. I don’t want them to be just strong or just sexy,” Roy told Women’s Wear Daily. “My collection is just that — strong and sexy. It represents the woman I want to be.”
If that’s the case, she must want to be a woman who’s pretty comfortable financially. The shoes will range in price from around $200 to $600, with most flats hitting the mark between $195 and $250, and boots will take the upper reachers at $450 to $600. Prices for heels, which nod here and there to the designs of Roy’s mentor Manolo Blahnik, will vary depending on what they’re made out of. The debut collection incorporates everything from snakeskin to wool to suede.
But considering that Roy’s line is owned by the Jones Group, which makes all those good-quality Nine West shoes you got for a song, we have to wonder if people will feel like they’re paying a high price for Roy’s designer name (the same way your friend’s new Lexus is basically a glorified Toyota). Take a look at the collection below and tell us if you’s save up for it.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
