We’re suckers for clever marketing tactics, and Rag & Bone‘s latest guerrilla ad campaign has us smitten. Marcus Wainwright and David Neville teamed up with creative agency Laird+Partners to develop the advertising scheme, which involves 1,000 posters (and even more fliers) plastered all over walls and deli boards across downtown Manhattan.
While the distribution of the material is cool, the content of the ads is even cooler. The brand outfitted four models — Abbey Lee Kershaw, Edita Vilkeviciute, Lily Aldridge and Sasha Pivovarova — with digital cameras and instructed them to take pictures of themselves in Rag & Bone gear. Says Wainwright: “We have always been very inspired by the girls who do the show. Rather than do what every other brand does and have a high-end photographer take very polished shots, we thought, ‘Let’s flip it on its head to get the girls to take over.’ We wanted it to be very real.”
This is about a billion times better than the last Laird project we saw…that disastrous Gap logo.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
