We’re still pining after a lot of the looks that came down New Zealand-born designer Rebecca Taylor‘s runway NYFW last month: cutout dresses, luxe fur-trimmed jackets, all in a rich and brooding color palette and all infinitely wearable. Her signature cool girl style has engendered fanhood in a number of famous clients, but Taylor had a real “I’ve finally made it!” moment when she saw her design on the fashion darling to end all fashion darlings: the Duchess of Cambridge.
“We’re lucky enough to have some lovely celebrity fans,” she conceded to Fashionista. “But Kate Middleton is a definite highlight. The day she wore our tweed suit, my staff taped a picture of her to the front desk so I would see as soon as I got in. They knew it would make my week!”
Putting out her Fall / Winter 2013 collection was, predictably, “crazy, nerve-wracking, exciting,” she went on, but she ultimately unwound with “champagne with family and friends.” Having been at Fashion Week ourselves, we can concur — with a very heavy emphasis on the champagne.
