Award show season is upon us once again, which means Hollywood’s pretty people are gearing up for some of the biggest red carpets of the year, and while this weekend’s events didn’t bring anything too showstopping, there were still a couple of winners that we hope foretell some major moments in the weeks to come.
At Saturday’s Palm Spring Film Festival gala, Naomi Watts and Helen Hunt kept it classy and comfy in sapphire Roland Mouret and jersey Michael Kors, respectively, while Helen Mirren was the picture of elegance in regal red Escada. Diane Lane, on the other hand, went for a lilac lace dress that looked a little too matronly, along with silver accessories that reminded us of the Nineties — and not in a good way.
Meanwhile, over at yesterday’s Audi Golden Globe kick off event, there was more glitz than glamour on the red carpet (see: Julie Bowen‘s one-sleeved Vegas number and Caroline D’Amore‘s mullet-hemmed sequins), though Kate Bosworth brought some high fashion cred with her black, sheer-paneled Emilio Pucci.

this is some kind of spaceship or something.
