Last night, young starlets like Selena Gomez and Carly Rae Jepsen attended the premiere of Katy Perry‘s Part of Me in California. Across the pond in London, Nancy Dell’Olio, Laura Bailey, Azealia Banks, and more feted the fancy Serpentine Gallery. Needless to say, they were two very different red carpets with two very different types of celebs.
We were surprised to see Perry in a lovely and demure velvet Dolce & Gabbana number. We give her major props for not showing up in a costume! We also liked Gomez’s fun Emilio Pucci minidress. The coral hue is a perfect summer shade, her tousled strands look amazing, and her bright lipstick is delightful icing on the cake — but an extra inch on the short dress wouldn’t hurt either. Jepsen also wore a mini, but we didn’t like her cobalt frock at all. The shoulder straps are confusing, and there’s an inexplicable flap of fabric near her right boob. However, we do like her bright heels.
Over in Londontown, fashion vets celebrated with the art folk. Dell’Olio took this opportunity to channel her inner Cleopatra in a sequined headdress and kohl-rimmed eyes. (It was weird.) But what was even more weird (and awesome) was Banks’s ensemble. She wore a pailette-covered dress with a pom-pom hem, and finished off her look with red jelly sandals. Do you remember those??
Now look at everyone’s outfits below, and tell us who was best dressed:
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
