While our dreams of donning a Reem Acra masterpiece are still just a fantasy, we will soon be able to spritz ourselves with the designer’s debut fragrance. The Lebanese designer is launching an eponymous scent in October at Saks Fifth Avenue, and chose model Crystal Renn to front print and online ads.
The scent includes notes of orange blossom, pear, bergamot, ginger, jasmine, lily of the valley, peony, amber, cedarwood, patchouli, and warm musk. Some of the notes come from the red carpet designer’s personal life, and she tells WWD:
“Fragrance, after fashion, tells the story of a brand. I was waiting eagerly for this moment, because I had something in mind. Basically, I think this fragrance is special because it’s not a made-up story. It’s my life story. Amber has been part of my homes since I was a little kid — we used to collect it [in Lebanon.] Peonies are my favorite flower, and every morning I drink orange blossom, steeped in hot water, to relax.”
The bottle itself is quite sleek — a simple glass square with the designer’s signature dove design. The fragrance will range between $35 and $125, and body lotion, shower gel, and cream will be offered as well. The fragrance will launch at Saks Fifth Avenue this fall, and then roll out in speciality stores in the U.S. and Harrods in the U.K. But if you’re really into fragrances, you might want to wait until December when a limited edition 90-ml. bottle will hit shelves for a cool $300.
Renn fronts the ad campaign wearing a sexy red gown by the designer, and sporting Veronica Lake-inspired waves and a bold crimson lip. The Tom Munro-lensed ads will appear in October issues, and a digital campaign (presumably also featuring Renn) is also in the works.
