It’s becoming clearer by the day that the fashion world has entered a new digital age, powered in many ways by social media. Clothing brands now turn to bloggers like Leandra Medine, Bryanboy, and Tavi Gevinson for advertising and collaborations. Refinery29, the style blog that does it all, is quickly turning in to a multi-platform powerhouse, and next up in its master plan for fashion world domination: a handbag collaboration with DKNY.
The collection will include a bag for each regional edition of the blog: New York, L.A., Chicago, D.C., San Francisco, Miami, and soon-to-be-launched London, for a total of seven pieces. Each bag was designed with the local market in mind, and prices range from the $195 L.A. clutch to the $395 New York backpack. Refinery29 Creative Director Piera Gelardi told WWD of the collaboration:
“We thought about each market and how we see it responding. We are a trend destination, but the bags aren’t overly trendy. They are still classic.”
The bags will go on sale this March on refinery29.com, dkny.com, and in DKNY stores. Take a look at a few of the pieces from the collection in the gallery below and then tell us, would you buy a Refinery29 bag?
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
