But Kanye actually said it first.
Riccardo Tisci always has nothing but praise for Kim Kardashian. After dressing the reality star in his now infamous floral gown for the 2013 Met Gala, the Givenchy creative director called her “the most beautiful pregnant woman,” he had dressed in his career. Now, he is taking his admiration to the next level by branding the curvaceous starlet as our generation’s Marilyn Monroe.
Tisci talked to The Sunday Times about first meeting Kim through Kayne.
“I met her as the girlfriend of a good friend,” Tisci said. “I just wanted a moment with her to understand — and I fell in love. She’s the Monroe of our age. People think she’s like a doll, but actually she’s tough and clever.”
The love affair is mutual. Last year Kim captioned an Instagram photo of the designer holding baby North #NewStylist.
We’ll admit Kim is certainly beautiful, curvy, and controversial, but does Tisci really believe Kim is the next Marilyn, or is Yeezus brainwashing him? In November, Kayne went on one of his usual rants about how insulted he was that Kate Upton channeled Marilyn Monroe for Vanity Fair’s 100th issue.
“I have a love hate relationship with the paparazzi but actually I love them because they empower us over, ya know?,” Kanye said during an interview with Hot 97. “They are empowering us over Vanity Fair that want to say that Kate Upton is Marilyn Monroe. Kate Upton ain’t Marilyn Monroe. Kim is Marilyn Monroe, you know that. She was controversial. She [is] controversial.”
Kanye already believes that Kim deserves a Vogue cover more than anyone else, so we wouldn’t doubt that he is trying to convince his influential friends that his other half is the next great American icon. Honestly, can a rapper who dubbed himself God really marry anything less?
