The pop star started shilling for the brand in 2011, and even allowed Nivea to use her song “California King Bed” in commercials. Heidenreich joined Nivea’s parent company, Beiersdorf, in January this year, and it looks like he’s ready to make some big changes. He must’ve caught wind of RiRi’s risque wardrobe choices, and is now rethinking Rihanna’s title as the brand’s spokesperson.
He recently told German newspaper Welt:
“Rihanna is a no go… I do not understand how to bring the core brand of Nivea in conjunction with Rihanna. Nivea is a company which stands for trust, family and reliability.”
Well, to be fair, Nivea isn’t so perfect either. Last year, the Federal Trade Commission fined Nivea for claiming that the My Silhouette! body cream would “significantly reduce consumers’ body size”. The beauty brand also came under fire for a racist advertisement geared towards black men.
Of course, Rihanna isn’t one to back down from a fight, and she tweeted a pic of Heidenreich and the words: “No caption necessary.” We have no idea what it means, but at least she’s temporarily stopped tweeting half-naked photos of herself.
