Robert Pattinson Makes His First Red Carpet (And TV!) Appearance Post-Split

Jilted lover Robert Pattinson emerged from his den of anguish yesterday to promote his film Cosmopolis, first on the red carpet at the New York City premiere, then later on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. He showed up again this morning to ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange with director David Cronenberg. Needless to say, it’s been a big 24 hours for tabloids and Twilight fans everywhere.

Let’s start with the premiere: Pattinson looked pulled-together yet relaxed in a dusty blue Gucci suit, likely called in at the behest of the actor’s BFF and the label’s creative director Frida Giannini. He was also joined by quite the cast of characters, some better dressed than others. On the well-dressed side of the coin were Metric‘s Emily Haines, looking like the certified badass that she is, and Canadian actress Sarah Gadon, who was a vision in teal Dolce & Gabbana. Less impressive were those who opted for cutouts, leather, and bandage dresses — perhaps vying for the attention of a certain newly-single vampire?

And speaking of that rather sizable elephant in the room, Kristen Stewart was, of course, nowhere to be seen this time around, unlike at Cannes where she ruled the red carpet in Reem Acra.

Anyway, following the premiere, R-Patz headed over to The Daily Show‘s studios to share a pint of Ben & Jerry’s with host Jon Stewart, who graciously provided the creamy snack to soothe his guest’s broken heart:

“The last time I had a bad breakup, Ben & Jerry got me through some of the tougher times. So I thought you and I could talk about, ‘Boy, you are better off. Kick her to the curb. Whatever!”

Check out the full run down of Pattinson’s very busy night (and morning!) below, complete with video and red carpet shots:

And now for the red carpet:
