Leopard print-loving Italian designer Roberto Cavalli certainly has been causing quite a stir lately — what between the return of his Garden State muses to the small screen, finally being vindicated on charges of tax evasion (also known as: Villa-Gate) and a front lining appearance at a car-cum-fashion show.
So 1 Management’s Christopher Michael had our minds racing yesterday with the news — via Twitter, naturally — that the godfather had allegedly split with his wife and partner-in-all-gaudiness and was pursuing a new creative director. Who, we wondered, could possibly fill Eva’s five inch lucite stilettos and slinky sequin encrusted tank?
But it turns out our fears were for naught. According to Racked, the whole thing was a virtual prank to see how fast the news would be tweeted. “Someone thought it entertaining to falsely inform me that Cavalli was taking a new Creative Director on. Not True and Not Funny,” Michael said via Twitter.
Not funny at all. Once again, we fear that more than one fresh set of acrylics have been ruined by the Cavalli rumor mill. A half-baked attempt to drum up publicity for the aging designer? Probably. Though admit it, you were kind of hoping the next Twittered news would be @Lindsay Lohan‘s “Dreams come true: I’ve finally and nailed down a job” …Talk about a match made in Tri-State heaven.
