File this under “Insensitive”: Word is that Rohan Marley has left 36-year-old Lauryn Hill, the mother of his six children (one of whom she gave birth to two days ago) for supermodel Isabeli Fontana.
Reports of the pairing began last week, after Fontana tweeted a photo of them with the caption: “I’m in love with @Romarley’s heart.”
Fontana, 28, has starred in campaigns for Escada, Roberto Cavalli, Versace, Dolce and Gabbana, and Estee Lauder, and graced the covers of Vogue Paris, for which she posed a la Linda Evangelista and Vogue Mexico, which was shot in 3D.
Marley, on the other hand, is the 39-year-old is the fourth son of reggae legend Bob Marley. He’s the founder of Tuff Gong clothing and Marley Coffee, now known as Jammin Java Corp. Lauryn Hill, obviously, needs no introduction; The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill may go down in history as one of the most flawless albums ever released. (In our humble opinion, at least.)
Finally, it’s worth noting that Marley’s relationship status seems to be in a perpetual state of confusion. It’s unclear whether he ever divorced his first wife, Geraldine Khawly, though according to a 2003 Rolling Stone article, the answer is no. And although Hill often referred to Marley as her husband, he was listed as single on his MySpace profile.
On Saturday, Marley defended himself over Twitter but didn’t deny the split. “Ms. Hill is the mother of my children, whom I have a tremendous amount of love and respect for,” he wrote. “I would never do that.” He added, “The nature of our relationship [is] something we don’t expect people who spread gossip for a living to fully understand.”
