Rooney Mara might have taken Riccardo Tisci as her date to the 2013 Met Gala, but now, she’s stepping out with another designer as the newly announced face of DOWNTOWN Calvin Klein.
Set to release in July, DOWNTOWN is “a fragrance for women that live by their own rules”, according to the press release. We’re pretty pleased with the brand for choosing an actress who definitely breaks the Hollywood mold, and the black-and-white ad shot by Jean-Baptiste Mondino — in which Mara wears a leather jacket, smoky eye and nude glossy lip with scraped-back hair — fittingly capitalizes on her anti-bombshell appeal, not to mention that downtown New York sensibility they’re surely going after with the gritty look.
For now, we can only imagine what “watery plum, violet leaf and Italian cedrat” smell like together, but with Mara fronting the campaign, we’re sure the scent will sell. See what other scents smell like in our crowdsourced perfume review column, Name That Scent, and watch other Calvin Klein fragrance news below to get excited for July’s big debut.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
