Kate Middleton may have done her own makeup for her super duper official royal engagement pics with Prince William, but that doesn’t mean the photos weren’t subjected to some retouching. Scandal! Except, you know, not really.
The AP reports: “William’s office says the couple’s two official portraits underwent ‘minimal’ retouching before they were released. The palace said Tuesday that the couple’s appearance was not altered, but adjustments made were to light balance and contrast because ‘the final portraits are works of art,’ like the painted portraits made of previous royal generations.”
Okay, here’s the deal: we live in a world where people retouch their mobile uploads before they post them to Facebook. We just do. Which is why it isn’t surprising (and not even a little bit upsetting) to learn that pictures that are being disseminated around the world were tweaked just a bit. While we disagree that the “the final portraits are works of art,” we do think a little light balancing never hurt anyone.
