With a two-hour start to finish runtime, the Screen Actors Guild Awards is perhaps the shortest of the season’s shows, but that doesn’t mean it was lacking for sartorial missteps. From Julianne Moore’s ill-fitting Chanel couture creation to Morena Baccarin’s overwrought Basil Soda gown, these celebs fell far short of our expectations for the evening — if we even had any at all.
It’s hard to hate on Chanel, but the bust on Moore’s gown was a poor fit, plain and simple. Kaley Cuoco had the most confounding hair on the carpet and the cut and length of her Romona Keveza number felt like derivative Dior — and not in a good way. Sofia Vergara, normally the queen of taking tight and shiny to luxurious levels, looked cheap (and dare we say a little lop-sided?) in Donna Karan Atelier, while Julia Stiles‘ grey-blue garment would have been inoffensive but for her more than matronly styling. Sigourney Weaver would have done well to kept things simpler than her ruffled satin dress. Which brings us to Rose Byrne. Indeed, it’s rare to see her go so wrong, but the floral Valentino frock she chose veered way too far into flatly feminine — and her controlled curls didn’t help.

this is some kind of spaceship or something.
