Who Will Be This Year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Cover Girl?

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue is to fashion week what Stephen is to Alec Baldwin, which is to say: they both involve models, but you can’t quite believe they’re part of the same family. In any case, this year’s issue will be unveiled on Monday, February 13 on The Late Show with David Letterman — and rumors about the cover model have officially reached a fever pitch.

The New York Post’s sources say 19-year-old Kate Upton is a top contender, and Fox News agrees, though the model played coy at Wednesday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

“All I can really say is that I’m in the issue,” Upton told Page Six, adding that she’s missing the New York shows because she’ll be promoting the SI issue, including at a launch party at Pure in Las Vegas next week, where Bruno Mars will perform. But she added, “Fingers crossed!”

Upton made her debut in the issue last year and is currently linked to New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, though The Post notes that Chrissy Teigen (who is currently engaged to John Legend) and Anne V (who recently split from Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine) are also in the running.
