Stefano Tonchi’s name has been all over the news lately for his recent appointment as W’s newest editor in chief. But today, he wasn’t up against the critics who disagree with the creative direction in which he may take the publication, but up against the courts.
According to Gawker, Tonchi was on trial today for a DUI charge from last January in Beverly Hills. After refusing a breathalyzer test, he was forced to take a series of field sobriety tests which led police to arrest him for intoxication. What began as a “routine traffic violation” quickly became a misdemeanor charge against him.
Gawker also has a copy of the complaint. Neither Condé Nast nor Tonchi have commented on the matter.
