“Taylor Swift wears Kanye West in a fashion editorial” is just not a thing we ever imagined we would write. There are many layers to this, folks.
Swift snagged the April cover of Harper’s Bazaar Australia, and while she wears Gucci to front the mag, she dons some more surprising duds for the inside spread. One photo has the pop star in a zipped Kanye West top and a sequined Maison Martin Margiela wrap. This is pretty insane — and not just because another piece from Kanye’s ill-received first collection scored an editorial credit.
Kanye and Swift have reportedly patched things up since the 2009 VMA debacle, as we learned in Swift’s New Yorker profile this fall. The two high-fived at the Met Gala, and all was forgiven. As such, the Taylor-in-Kanye styling choice is a bit of a wink, and the Margiela wrap is yet another reference to Yeezy. (If you’ll recall, “What’s that jacket, Margiela?” is one of the best fashion lines on Watch the Throne.) Of course, it’s no coincidence that Harper’s Bazaar Australia‘s fashion director is Christine Centenera, who advises Kanye on his eponymous line.
Layers on layers on layers.
