#TBT: The Valley of the Dolls Catfight Scene Is Pure ’60s Style Porn

It takes guts to rock a beaded gold and green pantsuit with a brooch on top of it.

And that’s the kind of glam envelope-pushing that makes the melodrama worthwhile in the maudlin movie Valley of the Dolls.

The film version of the book is a deliciously guilty pleasure, but there’s zero shame in watching Neely O’Hara (Patty Duke) and Helen Lawson (Susan Hayward) duke it out purely for the fashion #inspo. Neely, who had a Mulberry bag named after her, wore a creamy white coat and gloves for her first post-nut house appearance, and this combo is only topped by her silk tulle dress. Spoiler alert: the green and gold motif continues. You’re welcome. Seconal pills not included.
